I know this thread is about LS swapping into a gbody, but those are the same bolt locations that I used converting v6 to v8 sbc and they work great.hmm that might be true.this has always been the normal set up,i'm sure someone will chime in on this one, there's a few ls swapped rides on here..View attachment 145330View attachment 145331
Yeah, I’m aware of that now haha. No doubt the body mounts are trash. As stated earlier the only reason for cutting the tunnel up that much was because I was fighting the old polyurethane inserts and jacking up the transmission more than I wanted. I was trying to pivot the motor forward trying to line the holes on the motor mounts but never succeeded. Looks I’m gonna have to tackle the body mounts sooner than I wanted to see if that helps with clearance on tunnel and more importantly the passenger side head and firewall. My T56 went right in just had to cut a very small notch out for the reverse lockout.
If you are cutting the floor to make it fit your body mounts are shot and collapsed
Never said it was a “special case”.. Just that I’ve installed the motor mounts exactly how Holley said too and that I still can’t figure out why it would hit like that. I’m not denying that I could be at fault somewhere in the install of those though. So, you're saying Holley designed a kit that hundreds of other people have installed that didn't hit the firewall, and yours is a special case? Go on........
It really depends on just HOW BAD your body mounts are. Think about it: if they're just collapsed, that is your trans tunnel problem. BUT, if the holes are egged out and the body already moved, it could be a big problem. My buddy, Hooptiewagon on here, his body shifted a good inch, and almost all the body holes were trashed. It's time for project reevaluation.
