Yes, DoubleV loves Sanderson. He got 3 bad sets, I got 3 good sets. I would go the Thornton route if I were to do it over, cost for cost. Ram Air Restorations and Pypes makes down pipes that will work with the Thornton shorty's but are more geared for A bodies and the double hump cross member.

All the above are good in my book.

Ive utilized the Sandersons in the past for the Olds that I had and they worked out just fine. Ive also used the Thornton stuff with good luck. Ive even worked with the Pypes down-pipes for a custom Olds exhaust with a successful outcome..

If you already have headers, I wouldn't be afraid to clearance the shift linkage. Looks like there's plenty of meat there to remove.

How about cut off the 3 bolt gasket flange and replace it with a 2-bolt ball and socket flange to match collector diameter? Might move connection point for linkage clearance and more ground clearance than three bolt.

That is another bonus of the Thornton shorty's, 2 bolt flange with no gaskets and accepts early Olds down pipes. One member on here used sbc downpipes from Pypes but one needed modified, surprised they even bolted up. I wish they made a Chinese Stainless full length copy for a G body, putting a set on my 70S. I already have a custom 2.5" system with Sanderson's, they just clear the brake lines and need aluminum or copper collector gaskets but just RTV around the heads.
