What’s the scoop with that?
Well that sucks. Sounds like plenty of rehab (sigh). Good luck to you,
I was always told to look for the '781's' & grab them if the deal is good. I have a set of them (mildly ported + the popular 2.19/1.88 combo) on a mild/non-roller 468. Dyno'd @ just shy of 500hp & slightly over 500lbs @ the crank. Very decent combo for the investment.Aren't 781 and 049 heads the ones to get?
454 heads - auto parts - by owner - vehicle automotive sale
781 castings. Date code shows cast on same day. Heads matched from day 1. 2.19 intakes and 1.88...denver.craigslist.org
If those are in good shape how good of a deal is that? Because this isn't the greatest timing for these to pop up.

If they look legit/fresh, the price in that ad is real world good. Better deals can be found but most of the time they need work. It boils down to whether the plan is to bolt them on as-is or pay less for heads you plan to have rebuilt to your specs. If it were me.... I'd counter @ $450/cash in hand & go from there. What should one expect to pay?
