Ok guys....I am really confused on this one.

It was my understanding that ALL Olds 442s built in 1986 were two-tone right?
When I bought my car it was in a flat black body sealer....

I was trying to find the paint code for my car, and when I looked at the cowl tag, the numbers I am getting are:
15L 15U

...doesent that mean that the car was painted one color, and not two-tone??

I have verified my car is a real 442 (f41 and w42 on the rpo) ....so I am lost?

Its my understanding that "15" is medium gray metallic correct?

probably better to go by the trunk option sticker........remember that all 85/86 442's were a cutlass salon with the w42 package added. that paint scheme was part of the w42 package so.....that cowl tag might be the basic black color code. i am sure someone here has the proper color codes you need

peace

You were correct sir!

After looking at the RPO code on the trunk lid just now, I came up with 12L 15U

...could somebody translate that into a paint part number for me?

These are newer colors that happened to use the same code in later years.
Your 442 was Medium Grey Metallic on top and Silver Metallic on the bottom when it rolled off the assembly line.

Does the cowl/body tag say W42 or 442 in the lower right?
Could be a rebody...
Lift up the carpet, that should tell you the color of your car.
Are there holes drilled in the rear wheel well for chrome trim? There shouldn't be...
Is the RH tail pipe gas tank line heat shield there?
Airshock lines and Airshock nipple on the tag bracket?
8.5" rear?
KZF Blue Trans tag?
Thicker balancer?
17086009 carb?
If so you got yourself a 442... if there are holes for trim in the quarter wheel well then it's a rebody, that's almost the only way to tell...

Vin number is "9", cowl tag lists "442," rear is an 8.5 10 bolt non-posi 3.73, air shocks are still installed and intact, air cleaner is dual snorkel, no rear chrome trim...
