but i always feel that negativity is in the air. Alot of people act like these cars are god and act like they are the mother of all GM creations and act as if this motor will blowup just from idling
Anyways I'll post some 1/4mile videos after I come back from racing this weekend.
Sounds a lot like the MkIV Supra community. A handful of other tuner circles are like that too. Do the "wrong" thing to a certain car and you get crucified. If those guys had a saying it'd be, "Give me mass appeal, or give me death."

Have fun at the track! It can be fun even with a slow car. I've noticed that with the Buick floor shifter you don't have to press the button to make it up-shift from 1 through neutral. With some practice, all it takes is a quick and careful nudge to up-shift manually. After I feel the shifter cable get into the next position, I'll pull back just slightly to make sure the shifter settles in the right position. As long as you went far enough forward, it won't downshift unless you push the button. I try to make it all one fluid motion. Now of course this is just with my plain-jane 200-4R. Your T-Type unit might have better auto shift points than mine just sitting in OD so you might not even have to mess with shifting manually as long as your TV cable is adjusted correctly. But, if you wanna shift it yourself, it can be done!

"Plain-Jane" and "200-4R" do not belong in the same sentence. Take it from the guy who has a column shift TH200. I couldn't begin to tell you what I'd do for a floorshift 200-4R.

My 200r4 has a shift kit in it. When I want to race I usually Drop it into Drive and build boost and let all hell break loose. I have not really tried 1st or 2nd yet. The one thing i need to check before track day is the rearend to make sure nothings amiss.

Its a shame that some communitys have so much drama but the bottom line is there is more then one way to skin a pig....

Yeh and the funny part is about 3 cops are my neighbours 😳

Very awesome car! They were the water mark in the 80's. Glad Buick somehow got those car's made, kind of like the Super Duty Trans Am's and later 89 Turbo Trans Am's. Too bad Olds went backward's with the 442 after 85, the gap was huge by 87. Buick had two of fastest car's of the 70's and 80's, from the maker of old people mobile's 😀.

I just got in from a local car meet and I raced a Evo Lancer ... Lets just put it this way he had a car length head start on his pull and i realed his *ss in and took him buy two car lengths before i had to break as hard as i could to stop lmfaoo the joys of being young and stupid.... And this is with my Boost turned down to 15 from the 18 i had it at. Youare very right Buick didnt make a mistake with this car its keeping up with todays fastest and I couldnt be more proud to own this car then after that moment i thought i was done for but like any GN video you see on youtube she very often lets you down

i know what you mean by ppl thinking these Turbo Buicks are gods gifts but now that you have one, you should understand why..

one word of advice, because i'm restoring one right now. spend the money and time replacing everything needed for the car to function. seals and all.

these cars becomes problems when you slap on go fast parts and forget its a 25yr+ old car that your wringing out. spend the money on NON-go fast parts and you'll enjoy her so much more and for alot longer.

i'm glad to see another young guy with one.

The stock floor shifters in these cars are garbage... Far too easy to over shift.
If you want to pound thru the gears get yourself a nice aftermarket shifter like a B&M, Hurst, etc...

I know exactly what you mean. That logic holds true to any older muscle car aswell. The cooling system is of major concern aswell as the oil system on these cars. I'm most likely going to rebuild the rearend, put new seal in the front of the driveshaft. take the intercooler off and clean it out with Simply Green. Maybe a Fbody Rad and a LS1 MAF sensor. Along with my Alky Kit and powerlogger. The one thing that scares me is the shop the built my cars engine scammed a few guys back in the day. But im sure with 30,000 Hard decent miles there isnt anything too wrong with the car. DETINATION will be the end of your cars life so be careful to any new owners dont mess around with boost.. keep it low until you understand why things work the way they do.

And thats the most simple way to explain this car for a newbie looking for one.
