Im hoping I can use my 24x stroker crank I just bought in the 6.2... as well as my current cam setup. Most of my research says it should be okay, is that correct? Anyone else make the change from 58x to 24x?

If your harness is wired for 24x just make sure the 24x sensor is used. The 58x needs 12v and the 24x uses 5v reference.

You can also have your machine shop change the reluctor wheel on back of the crank and weld it up

Update .. pictures of the motor. Tore into it last night only has 129xxx kms on the unit verified.. super clean very impressed. Super happy even though I am only using the block!

Guys,

Need some opinions.

Using the parts I already have on hand below trying to save costs by reusing what I can from the current build. The pistons I got for a good deal and are brand new unused.

AFR V2 230 heads (62cc)
Wiesco .070 pistons +5cc

This will put my compression way too high to use pump gas.. If I have a custom gasket made .90 that should put me around 12.15.1.. my question is on a N/A motor will this cause me any issues with quench, reliability etc? Or should I shave some meat off the pistons.. which I really dont want to do.

Any help/Ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I would not do that because that much quench with that compression is going to cause detonation. Two things that you can do. One, run e85. Two, get cylinder heads with larger combustion chamber to lower compression. I'm at a calculated 11.3 to 1 and on pump gas that's about the limit from what I've researched.

My neighbour has been running his 427 @ 12.5 with no issues on pump gas (94 octane) . I want to avoid new heads as those AFR heads were big money and they have less than 1000kms on them. I would rather sell the pistons and get new pistons at that point.

What would cause the detonation? just the heads further from the deck?

What are your goals? Sticking to NA? What fuel?

You need to answer these questions before anything intelligent can be recommended.

Running 12.5:1 on pump gas can be done, but begs the question of 'why' if it's truly a street car and street driven.

Something to keep in mind, a 6.2 with cam, headers and tune is an easy 500hp.

Still planning to run a carb or going to go EFI?

N/A 94 octane - I would be running 12.15.1 my neighbour was higher.. his car is much more radical build.

I want more power than my current 6.0 I'm sure my current build is putting down well over 500 to the crank, completely blew apart my clutch rated at 450tq in less than 1000kms.

shooting for 650+ crank HP N/A

Build spec so far:

6.2 block
4.00 crank, 6.125 rods, .070 pistons +5cc
AFR V2 230 cathedral heads
Victor Jr
Pro Systems 1000 CFM carb
Stock rocker with Trunion kit
LS7 lifters currently but am undecided... might upgrade to CTSV or Johnsons
Custom Cam Motion cam - 246/252 111.5+2.5
TKO 600 Trans
