You won't have enough motor to notice a horsepower difference between the 823 heads on the 6.2 and the AFR heads. But with that cam your dynamic compression would make the static compression manageable. Are you going with an MSD ignition module?
He's looking at almost 420 cubic inches - those heads won't hurt. But I would say that a set of 243's would get him to his goal as well. He should be able to hit his goal, but I don't think this will be a friendly car on the street with a stick - but sometimes, unfriendly is more fun :)

I beg to differ, the AFR heads rock the house. I know people love square port heads but they will smash the stock 823s all day long. https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamome...r-230-heads-now-updated-w-chassis-dyno-s.html

Yes I run MSD.

I had the cam ground that way to balance the dynamic compression to make the static compression manageable..still need to find a way gasket, shave pistons or get new pistons all together.

I had a set of CNC 243s, took them off and put the AFRs on my 6.0 stock bottom end and the car rocked the house, got down like James brown.

As far as the car and my goals.. I want it to be like driving a hand grenade.

Car has no heat, no wipers, no insulation... just smiles per gallon baby! :)

Well.... 468 cube LS with factory LS3 heads made 691hp... Needed really big Mast Motorsports heads to make more than a 30hp increase. Up to you I guess.

468 cubes to make 691 hp is pretty weak.

Even at the end of the video he said if he 'had' to upgrade he would go cathedral port as they picked up a ton. I already own the heads bought and paid for, no argument for the flow of the LS3 units but I plan on selling them to help recoup costs of my LS3 engine purchase :)

My intake is also cathedral port and will be a cause of power loss 100% but I really don't want to buy a new hood at this time

Just giving a point of view.

The difference between your plan and that motor is 10% (roughly) displacement. So take 10% out of the 468" HP number for 630hp on your combo. Ballpark. 30hp less and no issues with pump gas, and not trying to force a non-ideal combo to work together.

Or get more cam, wind it up and use the combo where its going to be happy. That motor is gonna want more cam. 😉👍

Update!

Ordered a bunch of parts for the new engine, got the block back from the machine shop and sold my 6.0!

I also picked up a Ford 8.8 out of a fox body. My plan is to build it fresh, 9 inch ends, Willwoods, etc ...

Recommendations for diff unit? also Im running UMI upper and lower control arms with Ridetech coil overs... anyone running this setup with a 8.8? Can I use the UMI uppers or do I need to buy the trick chassis kit?

Id love to hear from some people who have done the 8,8 swap !

Been a while since my last update but finally got the 6.2 back from the machine shop and I put it together and back in the car she goes! Super excited for less weight and more jam with the stroker!

Wieso pistons (12.15.1 Compression) 4.070 bore
AFR 230 Cathedral port heads
Victor Jr (for now all that will fit under stock hood.. I know this will rob me major power)
HVH Super Sucker spacer
Pro systems 1000cfm carb
Summit pro LS Forged/Balanced crank/rods (4'' stroke, 6.125 rod)
Cam Motion 246/252 111.5 +2.5 (629 Int 612 exh)
Johnsons link bar lifters
ATI Balancer
And all the other goodies..

Should be a great improvement over the Iron block 6L from last season!

So need some help in two areas..

1st - Cars running lean started with 84 / 92 jets with 45 squirters front and back.. off idle hesitation and then its fine but still lean.. jetted up to 88's in the front helped the stumbled slightly but still there but still running lean 16 on the AFR gauge at wide open, put new plugs and and all evenly white.. 1000cfm pro systems 4150 carb.

2nd - not running a PCV system have to -8n lines running to catch can.. people are saying its running lean because of no pcv.. seams odd..

Either way open to ideas other than running lean with off idle stumble car has no issues!

appreciate any advice
