I've been working on quadrajets for more years than I'd like to admit. I have one that I could never get the choke to work. I could set it up for the choke to come on with a pump of the peddle but the choke would never come off. I removed all the choke parts, cleaned them, made sure they were installed correctly and nothting was sticking. I checked to the resistance in the choke coil and that was good. So today my mission was to fix the choke since the cooler weather is here and this is my favorite carb. I removed the choke coil and set it up with my battery charger on supply toi see if it was actually working. The choke coil acted perfectly and contracted as it should. Then it dawned on me, the coil was on backwards so instead of pulling to lever down to release the choke it was going up putting more pressure to keep the choke on all the time. I do not remember where I got the choke coil from or why anyone would remove the coil in the first place and then put it on backwards.....:wtf:

Good catch.😎 Its those garage gremlins they come in the middle of the night and screw everything up. They turn lights on, loosen nuts, and put springs on backwards. It happens in my garage all the time.
