Adjust the pin on the selector bracket.
Also, make sure it's not the column lock rod, that might need adjusting as well.

I actually figured it out the problem was the shifter.
i needed a 2004r shifter. because the spot where the cable sits in place with the C clamp is a bit longer than that of a non 2004r allowing it to line right up with the pin. if that makes sense
