2005 GMC brake line question

No problem man. I just hope I found the right info for you. I'll try to look for a truck at work again tomorrow. We've got somewhere around 2000 cars on the yard so I may have overlooked one.

In my experience when the customer tries to "help" all they usually do is get in the way, especially when they don't know what they're doing to start with. Good luck man.

Yes you did, there was an expanded view that was labeled what port and where it came from in there.

I understand hes trying to help but this just tagged alot of time. Started out as a blown wheel bearing, decided he wanted both front done... fine. Get a call 3 days later he lost the brakes... im thinking a rubber line from when i pulled the calipers... instructed him to have it towed to my home shop, and ill get to it when i get out of work (24 hour paramedic shift followed by a 10 hour mechanic shift). instead it was at his daughters across the street.. told him not to touch it until i get there Monday night, walk up find a pile of brake lines in a heap and him all proud of himself for ripping it out...

That's the kind of stuff that makes me not like people! You say don't touch it and he rips out every brake line on the thing. You didn't even get to look at it and see if there were any obvious problems. Like you said, it could have been a bad rubber line. It could have been several different things. It would have been nice to get to do some diagnostics before "genius" decided to just start taking things apart with reckless abandon.

It kills me when people assume that just because you work on stuff that they can throw a pile of parts at your feet and you'll automatically know how to put them back together even if you never saw how they came apart.

This reminds me of an old sign I saw at a garage somewhere. It had the labor prices listed something like:

Labor costs
$50/hr
If you watch: $75/hr
If you help: $100/hr
If you tried to do it first and couldn't: $150/hr

Price this job accordingly. Lol.
 
Thsnks for the help IDing port assignment. Full brake lines installed... new front calipers.... 1/2 gallon of brake fluid and 6 hours later truck is back on the road.

Hell yeah man. Glad to help. Good to hear that you got it wrapped up already.
