I'm watching this as well. I currently have 225/60-16s on the Pig, and they're 26.6 on a 16x8. I was looking to go 245/50 which are 25.7, still out of the range you're talking.
I'd love to know how some of these really low cars ride on a da y to day basis. I love'em low, but I still need to get over speedbumps and don't need to hear scraping on every dip.....

Out of the range I'm more curious about, but dead center in the range I'll be buying first. I'm starting with a slightly harder compound tire (than the extreme 225/50s) and I can get that in a 225/55/R16 size, which is also a 25.7" tire. I commute to my events and often drive the car casually or for errands so by late-spring I should have good info to share on driving a 2-inch lowered car with undersized tires on pot-holed/roadkilled country back-roads etc.

It most certainly does. It means the 225/55/R16s I'm looking at will look just fine for sure. My wheels just won't be as sexy as yours.

I'd appreciate it! No big deal if you can't though!

In that case, i'll check my wagon fronts and get back to you also. My memory is fuzzy, but i want to say they are 225/40/17.

I dig those wheels. What make & model are they? They don't have shank lug nuts, do they?

They are 17x8 American Racing something or other. Discontinued, so i will never get rid of them.

If you do a google search they are basically identical copies of Weld Prostars in 17" version that AR was not authorized to produce. When Weld found out, they had to cease and desist. I agree 100% they are very cool. And no, they are conical seat.

I remember the selection of 16" tires being very limited for my dad's old '96 Pontiac GTP too.
