i have since corrected the scan tool data by finding the proper engine selction (had 3 v6 options). once that was done all the data looks plausible. its not running rich as i can have it running in the garage and there is almost no smell of rich exhaust. if chose is closed then 02 mv is up around 800. fuses: checked. dtcs havnt returned since i cleared them a few days ago. suspect faults dtcs from me trying to figure this out.

on another note, im trying to figure out firing order and plugwire/cylinder relation just to verify previous owners work. however i have seen a bit of contradictory online with even fire/odd fire/ years ect.
I have lots of books so I’ll keep an eye on this if you need some info

I got it running again. no change in condition from now and an hour ago. but look where nu.ber one wire is. seems to be a lot further off then what the diagram shows. I did check timing earlier and it was either 13 or 15 degrees with connector unpkugged.

things i have noticed. when running at 1000k you can hear the carb make a click, and then it wont want to run. iv torn this new reman carb apart many times already. to me it acts like the idle circuits are plugged. has zero interest in running below 1000rpms.

so one other question. i ended up making my own base gasket out of gasket material. just a simple outline of the carb. nothing as crazy as the original gasket. could this be causing an issue?

spray it and see if it leaks I thought those carb gaskets [original] were thick to insulate the carb from engine heat so the fuel doesn't boil just a thought

I have sprayed it. only leak present was the intake to head. but that was only present with the pcv system hooked up. with the pcv clamped and removed, no leak present. and also engine still ran poorly.
