3 speed to 4 speed console swap...what all is needed?

Ok...so Im changing out the 3speed console shifter for the 4 speed version so the 2004r can be fully utilized, but I am wondering if there are parts that can or cannot be altered and reused:
the plastic slide cover with the single hole for the shifter?
The gear selector indicator thing that has holes for each gear to illuminate the plate?
I have the new shifter on the way, a new cable, new plate for a 4speed, but dont have these parts listed above. Can the 3speed parts be altered at all or will I have to get actual 4speed parts?

You can use it, your indicator will be off a little. I've done several in different cars and I've never changed anything but the indicator sometimes and the lever on the transmission sometimes need to be altered or a new one fabbed from flat stock and slotted for enough travel to align with all gears. I've never changed a shifter, a detent plate or a cable. :wink:

Ok...so how did you shift into low without changing the shifter? This is the reason for my concern and questions.
