A vacuum gauge can tell you a lot about an engine.

Could be anything. Would help to know What cam? What’s your timing at? Carb?

I’d start with the easiest stuff to check, make sure it’s getting the correct fuel pressure and make sure your getting good spark. Visually inspect the inside of the cap and rotor too. Then I’d suggest getting a vacuum gauge on a manifold source of vacuum and check the reading. There are a few sources on the web that can show you how to read the gauge and different conditions.

My favorite 1st question - has it ever ran 'properly'? Or has an issue just recently developed? Include if this is a new build or 'new to you' build.
