Ok, so I'm putting an Olds 350 in my car, and putting a Borg Warner Super T-10 behind it. But, I don't know whether I should go with the manual or hydraulic clutch setup. Part of the reason is that I don't know if I will be able to get headers around the clutch linkage, as I've heard (not so sure about this) that some headers won't clear the linkage. Anyone ever do this setup and have this issue?

Can you even use hydrolic with the T-10? They make headers to fit, you just have to buy the right ones. There with be clearance issues either way. Its not hard to melt the plastic hydrolic line. If you do go hydrolic, do your self a favor and get the steel braided line for the hydrolics.

I just did the manual swap into my 84 cutlass. I have the mech linkage, and a sbc. The headers were the hardect part to make work. Alot of adjustments and denting. I used patriot headers I dont have the part # right now but I can get it. With the mech linkage it takes a great deal of tweaking to make everything fit and work properly.

Just make sure you have the G BODY CORRECT z bar, it is it's own animal and no other one will work. I'm not sure if you can even run a slave cylinder for a t10? Anyways, a mechanicle linkage can't burst, I'd go mechanicle.

anyone ever seen the kit on www.musclecarsonly.com for the entire mechanical clutch set-up for a 78-88 g-body? anyone ever used this kit? it's supposed to be the same as what came from the factory. and i've also been wondering if i'll have to get the correct floor panel to do the 4-speed set-up, as the factory manual A & G-Bodys were slightly offset to the driver side. any other info you can give me is always appreciated.

The 78-80 Oldsmobiles came with a T-5? i think? as an option.. this transmission was only offered with the 260Olds and 305 Chevy(Canadian) if im not mistaken....

they used mechanical linkages....headers are going to be an issue... id use the Reproduction W Z manifolds (they now make them in SBO style too) they flow very well and are compact enough to work for you with true duals.

What about using a set of shorty's from hedman? maybe have a custom exhaust bent that would make it by? just a thought.

shorties might work....but they arent the cheapest....how much power are you looking to make? .... i really dont think headers are worth the effort in a street car...manifolds will be more than adequate.

Oh, that kit looks to be all there. If you have any questions, 4speeds4ever on oldspower.com knows exactly what needs to be done, because he has done this swap before.

i used the kit from musclecarsonly. It worked good. had to bend the z bar a little to get it to work right, but it works. forget about hedman shorties, I bought a set for my sbc and they dont fit with mech linkage.
