i now have an engine stand that cost only 40 bucks. i got it from harbor freight and normally it's 70 bucks so i think i got a good deal on it. it's a 1000 lbs stand, not one of those 750 lbs stands with 3 wheels. my only complaint is that it uses a pin to to lock the head in place rather than an actual bolt you tighten. for 40 bucks it's a good deal.

also can someone tell me the size and thread for a SBC? i forgot to get some bolts for the block.

I have the same one for my 455. I think it's decent for the price. Lots of people won't buy anything from Harbor Freight but what the hell for $40.

I just took a bellhousing bolt with me to the hardware store and bought some longer ones in grade 8. I grabbed some big flat washers too.

I have the same one. Very sturdy and well balanced.

i looked up the bolt size and i think it's a 3/8" 16 pitch. easy enough. i plan on getting LOTS of washers. better to have more than i need than to have less than i need.

the paint is doo doo. i think i'm gonna repaint mine flat black with red wheels for a hot rod look. otherwise it's not bad for the price. the welding looks iffy on some spots but it's 40 bucks, we werent really expecting top of the line were we? of course not. i could probably resell it for 40 and get my money back on it when im done using it.

I don't have any complaints about it either. I had a coupon for 20% off and got the stand and the hoist together right at $200.

nice deal you got there on that. that's my next major tool purchase, an engine hoist.

It doesn't look any worse that the hoist I bought at Advance years ago for $269....and I used the sh*t out of that one.
This one was on sale for $169 before I used the coupon.
