Well, this saga goes on. Switched the carb with the Holley on the wagon and no change. Runs like crap. Checked the wires. Firing order is right. Im kinda pissed. Just came in for a bottle of water and going back to swap them back. Guy that built the motor is coming over on Tuesday AM. Cutting everything close since Im going into the hospital on Wednesday for the valve.
Any way of checking a 6AL ?

Easiest way is stick an hei in it and see if it runs

I've also poured gas in carbs to get them running for years. Most times only had a backfire if the timing was too far off.
I would keep a car running by holding the carb open enough to keep it running while adjusting the the distributor.
To me it sounds like a vac or timing problem.

I’d say stick a stock HEI in it.
