Well my swap from the 350 to the 455 is finally done, after a few vacations, concerts and other things taking up my time I finally got it out on the road today and all I can say is, it's fast and the video below doesn't do it justice...
I spun the tires and hit 2nd at 30 but I had it shift into 2nd at 60mph before... I'll fix that by adjusting the TV cable and installing the Lightning Rods tomorrow.
It finally shifted into 3rd at 60mph and 4th gear at 80mph in the video below, it was hard to hold on and hold the camera at the same time 😀

(I was going down a hilly back road and nearly lost it when I said holy sh*t at 85mph  )

I still have to hook up some sensors, install my new valve covers and Edelbrock intake. I am speculating I will have some clearance issues with the aircleaner once the intake is in.

Not sure, I bought it from a friend who got it from a guy that had it in a Demo Durby car, was rebuilt not too long ago and may have a slightly different cam.. I was a little worried that a head gasket was bad since Derby cars wind up overheating. Has J heads but I have a pair of C's that will get done up.

Very nice. What headers did you use?

 finally done! :friday:

Do you have any engine upgrades planned for the future? Any bolt on extras?

Stock manifolds with stock crossover pipe, my 88 has the same setup as well. I think headers are not much better than stock exhaust from my experience with 350's. You get a better idle with the crossover pipe. If the motor was built to 500 hp then I would fork out the $600-$700 for headers but stock works just fine with 3-400 hp.
I used the 90* turn down RH manifold from the 350 that was in there so I didn't have to modify my current exhaust. The swap cost about $100 in parts and fluids and the motor was $350. The trans was $75 and was rebuilt with a shift kit. All together this build ran me about $500. I used as much of the original parts as possible for a cheep upgrade.

I scored a new Ebrock performer locally for $150 on Craigslist that Im putting on tonight.
I was thinking of bolting on the C heads but the J's seem to do the job just fine for now since it's a daily driver.
I want to port the C's, fill the crossovers and install new valves first before I put them on with a roller cam, rockers and lifters.

Sounds like some good ideas. Do you already have the C heads? You could just port your J's and be somewhat close to what you would with a full rebuild and porting on C's...unless you find a good deal on 'em.

I already have the C's, they were supposed to be large valve but wound up being small valve heads... :?
