455 Olds Monte Carlo?

my boces teacher has a 455 that has 500 hp and 5,000 miles on it and he would sell it to me for $1000. i normally like to keep the same motor with the same manufacturer but i was wondering if it would be a good idea to buy it or not and put it in my 1984 Monte SS

Why would anybody sell a 500 hp motor with 5000 miles for $1,000?????

Is it really 500 hp? $1,000, whats wrong with it? Sounds like a too good to be true story. If it truly has 500hp and nothing is wrong with it you sir would be sitting on the deal of the century haha. I have seen 455 oldsmobiles sold as cores for close to that, although that is high. So if you found a good runner for a 1k it would be worth it. Find out more information, block code, what heads are on it, what work has been done to it, all that stuff.

his buddy is giving him his 383 stroker with close to 600hp and he doesnt want the 455. he also knows i would take care of it and yea its the real deal haha. he has all the receipts for the work, he said mondello performance built the motor

I have almost $1K in machine work alone and I'm not done yet. Ask to see some paperwork to back up the claim or it's no better that a bs craigslist engine.

yea i will, i mean its my boces teacher and ive seen the motor before but i am gonna look at all the paperwork to make sure its all correct
