455 Olds what radiator????

My Grand Prix was originally a 231 V6. I lucked out and came across a V8 Cutlass upper fan plate in a local wrecking yard, so I used that to install my 4-core Champion. However, the grooves in its stock rubber isolators (and the two bottom rubber isolators that came on my car) were not wide enough to fit over my fat new radiator. I spent a while in the garage with an exacto knife, snips and a pair of heavy duty scissors carving out all four pieces until they would accommodate the new radiator. After that, it dropped right into place as if it were OEM.

That's good to know i was thinking about how to make that all work. I have my stock upper fan plate still and I have one that came with the gbody parts radiator. One of them got to work. I may up the fan size too if I can make them fit.

The Plymouth Breeze/Dodge Stratus fans fit the opening perfect and move a lot of air and are cheap at wrecking yards. I just added 4 straps to fit them to the top plate and lower cradle.

There is a member on here with a 10 to 1 Olds 403 with the Champion 4 core, says it easily cools his car, should work for yours.

That'd be me. Yes, I have a 4 row champion rad an third gen f body dual electric fans. 160* tstat, car runs at 170 all day, never over 180 even with the a/c on in traffic in 100* humidity.

I am running a 16" Taurus fan:

I used this fan for two reasons: I had it on hand, and it works. However, I am still considering upgrading to a dual fan setup just to get coverage across the entire width of the radiator. A pair of 12" or maybe even 13" fans ought to fit nicely, depending on the exact size/shape of their shroud. I see guys here who recommend the Intrepid/300M fan setup, and I keep telling myself I'll get one from a wrecking yard... eventually.

I think thats the radiator I'm gonna go with. It seems to work really well for the big block.

I may switch to 2 12" inch fans from Zirgo cooling products but I'm not in any hurry for that. Gonna see how the mister gasket ones I have work with a better bigger radiator.

Thanks for the help guys. You have been more helpful then just searching the net.
