You see Wyokid, There are so many ways it's mind numbing.

It is true that a mono blade throttle may give me a little more.
I think mono blade would hurt your numbers. Your set up gives the motor a tunnel effect and as a result you got Outstanding Torque!!! The 455 Olds loves that! What rpm does it start to fall off?

ive been doing some extensive research the past couple days, and have come up with a set up that i think would work nicely. iv been looking into Holley's HP EFI set up. i want to basicly create my own intake useing Holley's ECU, plug n play harnesses, and fuel rails + injectors. the intake will be out of stainless steel becase i can get it for nearly nothing in class. only thing im really stuck on is what throttle body to use (was thinking of a 90 MM - GM LS SERIES THROTTLE BODY but then the throttle linkage is on the wrong side)
i realize a 4bbl efi would be cheaper and easier but i dont like the looks of a carburetor with fuel rails.

when its done it should look similar to this design intake.
anyone have any tips on actually making the intake manifold, so i can begin to properly blue print a intake manifold?

I believe you are right about the tunnel effect. To answer your question the H.P drops off at 5300 and the torque drops off at 3500. With fuel injection the throttle response in incredible and with that much torque early in your RPM range makes it a lot of fun to drive on the street. .. WyoKid I looked into a sheet metal intake for myself and was talking to Dick Miller about making it for me, The problem was the the price tag started at $5500.00 WAY out of my price range. Check out dick millers catalog for a picture of his custom manifold. I hope you have better luck if not you might have better luck adopting carb manifold.

could u post a link because i am haveing no luck finding it useing my ps3's browser

I think you'd be ahead of the game if you were to use an Offenhauser tunnel ram with a custom air box top than to start from scratch building your own sheet metal intake.

It's one thing to be able to build one but another thing entirely to be able to design one that works and doesn't lose power compared to a stock intake.

or use an elbow like dr78442 if you really don't want the look of a 4-bbl.

When I was building my engine I spoke to Rance ( what a nice and knowledgeable man) The problem with this route is you have to supply the bottom of a tunnel ram manifold. Offenhauser only makes them when the get a big enough order. Good luck finding a used one. I was able to find used manifolds that started at 1000 to 1500 dollars. Just my experience hopefully things have changed that was 3 years ago

im have taken in alot of ifo, called alot of people( includeing Rance) and got a lot of reading material on the subject. im think im still going to make the custom intake. i have acsess to a flow bench among other tools now. so im making one that is going to perform at its optimum . hopefully when all is said and done i will have one bad *ss engine that i can say i COMPLETELY built. its my dream car why not make it over the top.( Its like a disease ...im not happy with ordinary. the car has to be perfect)

What are your ET goals for this build anyway? You can build a badass engine, street or strip, with a single 4 barrel carb. Way cheaper and less hassle and in some case even better performance.

the plans for the car is to have all new technology inside but the look of the cutlass to stay true to its classic origin... electronic fuel injection, possible a coil-near-plug ignition, remote start, undercover stereo, hidden GPS in the dash, full coil over suspension, new rims, original paint, and many other things. I plan on sinking a lot of money into this car. Like I said before this was my dream car so I'm going to make into a dream car.
