5660 Springs 9/25/2021

Just went thru this same debate this spring. I had 5658's in my Cutlass for about 5 summers. It sat a little low with tall lower ball joints. The ride was firm, not floaty, but almost stockish. It seemed to understeer slightly when pushed. I just swapped out the 5660 springs. This firmed the ride up, and really balanced out the handling with the 5413 rear springs. If it's lowered looks you are going for, the 5660's will need cut.
I just went out and measured my wife's Grand Prix with 5658 and stock ball joints, it's about 7 1/4" to the bottom of the frame, where my Cutlass with tall lower ball joints and uncut 5660's is about at 7 1/2" to the frame rail. It was at 6 1/2" with the 5658's and the tall lower ball joints. Both are probably about 1" lower than "stock", but different ways to get there. I've got the 5658's if you're interested.

If using 5660 spring with half coil removed and bmr 1 1/2” drop rear springs , can a guy still use stock height shocks ( bilstein) ?
I eventually want this car to be a tight handling highway / road car but for now I just need to get it down over the wheels a little more

Your car but I think it looks great just the way it sits. What size tires and rims ?

this is a view from both sides, it’s parked on slightly uneven ground ,that’s why it’s different one side to the other .
there is a pretty good fender gap there that I want to shrink

thank you ,I really like it but there is too much air over back tire and I want a little bit of rake to her
The wheels are 17x8 all 4
With 4 3/4 backspace front , 4” bs on rear
245 45 17 front and 255 45 17 rear
You nailed the rim and tire combination! I'm thinking this winter I'm going to upgrade to some 17's. Your car really looks good!

Thank you for saying it! I love the thumbs up I get …well the car gets lol
I’m really happy with the staggered backspace front and rear , it helps give the effect of having wider wheels on the back because you see more lip
