7.5 to an 8.5 or any direct posi rear

As far as I know, most failures of the 7.5" rear are due to axle failure, not ring gear failure. If the swap above in fact works, this would be a cheap upgrade!

This "upgrade" does in fact work. I scored a set of used stock GN axles for $86 on eBay. I also have a 1998 4th gen f body auburn posi. So far it has held up to a 1.6 60 foot on slicks, but I'm still in the market for an upgrade. This may be a reliable upgrade for a car that doesn't make a ton of power, and doesn't ever have a sticky tire on it.

I have a friend that took a 9"Ford out of a Granada as it is the correct width for the gbody, just need to weld the brackets on and get a posi unit. The Granada's with the v8 should have them.
