Hey,
I got a 87 Monte SS 7.625 rearend with factory open 3:73 gears, a Summit aluminum girdle cover, used 28 spline GN axles, Zexel torsen helical gear drive posi and a rebuild kit from Strange engineering,Aluminum drums or steel drums What would you guys pay for all of it? I was going to rebuilld the the 7.5 to it's ultimate but found a 8.5 instead a while back. i rebuilt the rear drum brakes and all the part's are low mileage,. i need to get rid of this rearend with all the upgrades.....whats it worth to you guy's,??

well because its open i wouldnt say it was worth much. i bought my 7.625 becaus it was posi and it had rockford 4.11 gears. i payed 350 bucks and a 4 hour round trip, that to me woas worth it to get rid of my borked open rear with 2.41. so imma say 250 at most, or just save it for a rainy day...

x2. the rear end market for really any car is hugely performance related as opposed to replacement and wear related so posi makes the biggest difference in the world

The way I read it he has a 3.73 open WITH all the said parts including Zexel torsen helical gear drive posi as well as the 28 spline axels & support cover to go with it, ie it needs assembled. So better than what you bought beermonkey just in need of assembly. It probably is worth your time & expense to have it assembled painted and a picture. You will have more interested parties and recoup the extra cost & time involved. I do not know what its worth or what you should be able to get but I would guess at $500 anyway. Everybody wants an 8.5 but really this is plenty strong and ideal for 95% of the rides on here. Its way stronger than a factory 7.5 / 7.625 and does not waist near as much power to run it as say a 9".

I wasn't really looking forward to rebuilding it sell it but you do make a good point... As for saving it for a rainy day i REALLY need to clean out my garage.
