Guys I have been searching relentlessly for a nice sports car from the 70s since last year. I bought a 78 for $2200 that many of you looked at back in september. Well my parents are gone and i have a decent inheritence. I really want a car that i can take care of and appreciate as well as keep driving my monte carlo around for work and school etc. I found this, i emailed him its about 100 miles to drive there. But what do you guys think? Is it worth what he wants? I plan on putting roughly $15,000 into a saving while 5k goes to this becuase I have 1500 already saved up. Let me know please

I believe many of the parts on my 78 could be used on this if i wanted correct? if ever needed that is.

Looks good. But check under the rear bumper/gas tank area. Rust loves to eat the rear frame rails and panel. And of course look under the rugs for rust. No rust- go for it!

x2! My dad was telling me how 10 years ago all you seen was 70s camaros and now they arent as popular because they had those rot issues and crumbled to pieces.

Yeah the 78 I have, the only good thing on it was the frame still. Everything else was gone. I know it wouldnt be a bad investment vs blowing at the casino and what not. I mean i figure if i buy it, it would be something i could appreciate and remember that i got it from my dads inheritence and something to remember him by. Its not something id beat the hell out of thats for sure. Just a nice cruiser for weekends and what not. He said he would send me pics tomarrow.

Also on a side note, i was lookin into a 78 like mine i already have for 4500 but god, the rear transit behind the tank is basically gone. it was supposedly stored for 20 years in a garage, maybe it was but god did the salt ever hit it hard before or after that 20 years lol. I see these cars are definitely going up in value too so yeah i might have to go take a looksy at it.

I like it, but I'd go for a 74 or older personally... I like the back glass better on the 70-74's and I'm a little biased since I bought a 74 but that's why I bought it over the tons of 75-81's that I see.

Well ive seen the pics, and this one is legit. Im going to be dropping a down payment on it in 2 days. Its almost Barett Jackson quality guys real clean. One question, how do you install the factory spoiler on these cars? Is it a simple job considering this one never had one?

nice find

The spoiler studs fit into holes in the trunk lid and quarters. Just be sure to grab a spoiler (3 pieces) WITH the studs and be sure none are rusted or stripped. It is VERY common for the person removing the nuts that hold the spoiler to spin the studs since they are screwed into fiberglass and strip easy, as well as crack the fiberglass in the stud area.

im gonna write a post about this car once i hear it run and everything on sunday. The only rust on the whole car is in trunk some very thin surface rust from what looks like the spare tire sitting there. I geuss it has a few scratches here and there, and the seats are cracking. I was planning on just buying new ones out of my camaro cat. book anyway. Ill have that buffed out in a matter of 3 hours tops. If this car never had a spoiler are there still spots where the spoiler is set to go in? I know theres holes on the cars which originally had the spoiler but how about the ones without them?
