So damn confusing. lol. Is there any way to really be able to tell what motor you're looking at if the person who is selling it doesn't really know? IE, I got it from a friend who got it from a friend who knew this guy...lol. That kinda bullshit.

No, no 301s in the Lemans series. The 305 only came in a 2 barrel. It was a lower emission engine only out of Calif.
a few years ago, my dad had a 78 lemans wagon with the 301. im pretty damn positive it was original.

78 Lemans wagon had a 350 option, don't know if it was a Chevy 350 or a Pontiac 350, but either way that's the biggest G-body engine.

The only A/G bodies that came from the factory with the 350 engine were some of the late '70s El Caminos, and I believe it was an option on some of the early '80s Malibus with the police package. Then of course, there were some cars that came from the factory with the 350 diesel engine. Other than that, the biggest engine that was available from the factory was the 307 Olds engine.

Wrong again, Clean.
I'm looking at a 78 Pontiac Product Manual. The LM wagons offered a 350 4 barrel high altitude engine.
When I post something, it is a fact, not guessing.

Fifth digit of the VIN is an "S"...that's the 4.3 V-8, not the 4.9 V8 (301).

what is the vin letter "u" perhaps? and dose anyone have a round vent hole cover for the dash ? i need one thanks
