78 Lemans Shift equalizer levers

Sometimes it is good to get away from a project and free your mind. After some weeks I got the courage again to work on this problem. The solution is so easy that I feel shamed  It took me some time to realize that the TH400 is in a better position to the frame bracket than the TH200C. I don't need all these bends now, only a straight link with the correct dimensions.

The picture I posted shows the original lever for a TH200C and on the right is my template made of iron for the final lever made out of hardened steel. I don't need so many silly bends, only one 90°. The red/white arrow shows at what point the stopping disk will be welded to. The blue/purple arrow shows the position of the shift selector axle. I duplicated and mirrored the selector lever already (pictures will follow later) to get enough clearance to the exhaust pipes. when this is done, I'll fix the little lever connecting to the linkage from the steering column to the new equalizer bar and everything should be set. Cutting the ends to exact length as required and I'm done ^^

Good work! A buddy used to say, "Ya gotta know when to walk away". So true, like a job that is wasting 5 hours, you come back the next day and it takes 5 minutes.

After some weeks of planning and still searching for parts, I came up with these guys of "Frank's Pontiac Parts". The site looks very old fashioned (90's style) but hey, for a salvage yard, it was the first site I came accross that actually had some lists with pictures online. I checked the internet for reviews and asked even a boardmember on his oppinion on them, before throwing my CC-infos at some unknown person for parts. The reviews were mixed. The best were "you get what you pay for" while others claimed these guys were the biggest (insert any cussword here, cause I'm not repeating them) of the world, rude, overpriced, etc.

Well, 13 months of active search for some parts made me foolhardy enough to test them. They're all but cheap, thin-lipped and they make no secret of their "you don't like to play our way, then go to hell"-policy. Actually the shipping was less expensive than quoted. I'll post pictures of the parts as soon as they've arrived. Wish me luck on this
