What's the most "modern" looking g-body dash available?

If you're looking for a modern one, try finding a cheap newer S-10 dash for sale, it should fit about 2" short on one side, but it would look good. The work involved isn't too much after you get a dash in. New gauges, extend your radio/AC unit to bolt in, and also extend the air vents. You can find newer parts on ebay for all this. If your dash doesn't fit, buy some masonite at the hardware store and make little panels to bolt over the gaps.

do you have pictures of this? or know anyone whose done it?

The funny thing is, the Monte dash is FAR more difficult to find than a Cutlass dash. I have a Cutlass dash I am debating whether or not to use. It's brown and I need dark blue. If I find a blue one, I will be selling this one. Otherwise, I will be dying it to match my interior. it'll be a little while before I know as I am not going to the junkyards now due to all the time I am spending on paint prep.

I put a fiberglass dash which is a replacement for an early 90's S-10 in my car. There are some pictures in my album of this, (I don't know how to copy and paste the pics). If you find one in good shape, you would have to strengthen the back of the dash with some aluminum brackets (cuz the stock dash would be weaker than a fiberglass one). Cut it to fit, I can take mine out and show you where the brackets are and where the cuts are if you want.

Edit: I used 1/8" steel for the brackets. And you need to cut the tilt knob and take the transmission lever off (replace with a floor shift if you don' have a manual)

Well, I will put it for sale on that section of the forum if I get another. It took me a few months to find the brown one I have, but I found a blue one a few weeks later, right when I didn't have the cash.

fiberglass the esisting one and paint the color of the car???? might be easier then a complete swap for a stock looking dash....

 i tried that....thats the reason i need a new one...lol

how bad did you mess it up? the fiberglass is not too hard to repair mistakes... i think you would be better off selling the monte dash to someone who needs it and track down the cutlass one for yours. does a 4 door cutlass have the same dash? i like the cutty dash better....
