The 301 and 305 are commonly confused for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is the ever popular they are all the same. GM is GM argument. Which is true of every car manufacturer EXCEPT GM until the late 80s.

That's true. Several people expressed doubt and I conflated that. I know I would have been frustrated with that so I offered an apology. Perhaps I was projecting but I erred on the side of caution
At least with Grand Ams, the majority of 78's that I've seen had the 2 barrel. Although my 78 four door has a 4 barrel, and an aluminum radiator support.Curiouser and curiouser.
