You could even break it down further.

AMC- Twin Grip
Buick- Positive Traction
Chevrolet- Positraction, Gov-Lock (later)
Ford- Equa-Lock or Traction-Lock
Mopar- Sure Grip
Oldmobile- Anti-Spin
Pontiac- Safe-T-Track
Studebacker and Packard- Twin-Traction

I have the stock rear end, im not quite sure what gears are in it but the rear end is like a tooth pick... this car isn't a strip car its a daily driver with enough power to get me from A to B even all the way to Z i just need something thats gonna get the power to the pavement because what have now just is not cutting. i have plenty of time to think about this due to the fact its rolling around to that snowy time so the cars in storage so no rush i just wanna make the right choice thanks for all your suggestions and keep em coming 😀

My 7.5" is handling my 400hp 383 fine so far. 88olds421, what gears were you running? maybe they were loading up the rear too much?

I was using 3.73, I have since upgraded to the 8.5 and put 4.10s in it

OK now i just purchased a 7.5 rear end out of an 88 monte carlo. it has 3.73 gears. The malibu i have now has 2.73 gears,i was just wondering how much power will a 7.5 can hold up to as a daily driver. and how much of a difference will the new gears make.
