BUILD THREAD 79 Malibu wagon not slow not fast

Lol all I set out to do was put new wheels and tires on the car then after I did that I was afraid I was going to break the factory saginaw transmission. Then the project really spiraled out of control and it’s gotten to be a giant PITA. I should’ve never tore it apart and just drove it the way it was

Well dmax sprung a coolant leak Friday morning pulling into work, O-ring in the lower radiator hose failed..boss let me take company truck home to fetch a truck and trailer,
~240.00 lower radiator hose says I'll wait a few days and order new o-rings

Duramax problems….
Ahh. They've got excellent fans though, and they even mount to the TBSS electric fan clutch from what I've read. Could be very useful on a hot serpentine setup and the pair costs less than that dang hose.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's so special about this radiator hose? Is it obscenely complex or just another way to complicate things and make more $$?

This is what the lower radiator hose looks like .. it's a cluster-F

If I didn't have other vehicles I'd be buying the whole thing vs ordering a ~10.00 o-ring that needs replaced
I feel like that's needlessly overcomplicated and it's definitely a cluster. Wow.

Well this escalated quickly...
Even though I have help tracking down proper-ish o ring.. life has other plans ..
What it's supposed to look like..

The black ring is normally glued in this holding the o ring.
Ordered new upper/lower hose kit should be here Friday
