can take the column apart and cut the nubs off sand it smooth and buy color match paint. or do it to another collar and swap it in. or find a floor shift collar the right color.

Lmk if a barter of another model of center console and shifter comes to mind...I have them all,-mc,elco,malibu,cutlass,grand prix,-70's,80's,aftermarket etc.looking to put one of these in my 80 salon.

since your converting your column shift car to floor shift, grab the shifter mounting brackets that are welded to the floor of the donor car.

Gbodyparts.com sells em new. No point.

he has them for free. no point
If he can get them out without mangling them. If they're salvageable. Should be just a few spot welds a piece right?

Since the car's not a keeper, simple drill mission. Think there were like 4 on each on my MCSS donor...and I used a spotweld cutter since I had a guy that wanted to build the MC

In fact, I have the breadbox bracket sitting here, thought somebody might need it since I didn't use it on mine

i would take a saws-all and cut out the trans tunnel, then use a spot weld cutting drill bit to remove the brackets, then i would use the cut out tunnel as a template, set it his malibu trans tunnel and use the holes provided by the spot weld cutter and mark the floor so he knows where to put the brackets. he will then also have the correct spacing and location of the shift cable hole too.

same can be done with the inner seat track brackets for when he puts in bucket seats.
