Thats exactly what the guy who im thinking of did. He had an oddball combo that everyone said wouldnt work. It might even be a 401? Highish compression, but he built it, and it lasted a long time.

Looking for some input. Will the stock frame take 500 whp without any mods? We have a set od UMI control arms. I'm trying to guard against bending the upper mounts.

We ran high compression - 10:1- with 14 psi all summer. I think between the conservative timing and knock sensor it's do able. It IS the MS advantage IMO.

I bought the UMI braces that go between the upper and lower mounts. I'm looking to have around that amount of power with drag radials and leaving on a transbrake. I also have an 8 point cage.

Not the best of pictures being dark under there and everything being black. It ties in the uppers and lowers.

We were considering them as well, but I was also considering fabricating something. The UMI's are probably the best bet - I guess, because they look pretty light as compared to anything that I build.

Weight is definately one of my priorities. Especially since the powertrain will add a good bit a weight. If you go with the UMI's you will probably be able to test them before I do, but good luck.

I guess I'll give UMI a call and see what they have to say about the HP capabilities.

Got some parts - header stuff, fuel system upgrade, rear, cam. We should have everything that we need minus the fuel lines and some minor stuff that we can grab locally. Can hopefully get it all done by Feb (maybe some dyno time) if the weather holds out.
