Thanks Jack! I have to take some additional pictures when I don the front ones, than I'll try and do a how to thread.

For the taillight harness on the station wagon, there is a grommet under the cargo floor where the rear lighting wires run through.

I need to add two wires, on is a larger gauge 12vdc for the trailer hitch connector (in case I ever need it), and another smaller gauged fused 12vdc for the LED taillights.

Now, I don't want to just run the wires through another hole and an additional grommet, so, I have been doing some quick research and found a few products from American Auto Wire that may suit my needs. I have to go home and measure the hole that is already there to sure this will work.

This is an 8 conductor grommet plug from p/n 500547. Looking a the catalog, it appears to have a hole seize or 1 3/8". So if I am that size or smaller I am golden.

Jim, this plug would be specifically for the trailer lighting, correct?..
I'd also like to wire up a separate harness and plug for a trailer. I would hate to splice into the taillight harness, like most people do. I ended up repairing my old harness and eliminating the hacked up splices. A while back, I picked up an El Camino taillight harness thinking it was the same for a wagon....WRONG! It plugs in the same way, but has additional leads for the side marker lights, where the wagon side markers are wired separately. I'll have to take a pic of both of them side by side.

So to install this plug, you'd have to drill another hole to duplicate the existing rear harness plug?

Jack, I actually plan on replacing the existing taillight harness plug with this since my taillight harness needs to get modified for the LED tail lights anyway, so I don't really care about it being stock at this point. I plan on adding the necessary leads and splice for the trailer lighting, along with an two addition 12vdc wires. And would rather everything be running through one socket.

Ah, I see now. This is to replace the existing plug and will combine the trailer wiring and taillight wiring...and make it more compatible for the new led taillights....hmmmm! I like it. Thanks for explaining it more in detail

Yes sir, that is exactly right. This way I can remove the bumper and harness all in one shot, with one plug to disconnect. I'll end up using a combination of materials for the replacement plug to make it waterproof. The stock connector is totally encased in rubber, as you may recall.

I am thinking I'll RTV or strip caulk for the holes where the connectors go and maybe some heat shrink over backside of the connector and wires.

I don't know if it would be easier to do this, or just use a grommet like the speedo cable (I have one I think), and reed the wires through with a weatherpak connector or two instead.

Your doing some awesome work here Jim....looking good!
Thank you sir, chugging along. I have to do the taillight and trailer plug harness tonight, then hopefully mess with the hitch plug and epoxy the front lenses in tomorrow.
