Its not the first time Ive ever seen a stripe like mine, not common but its out there. Never seen one in the same color as mine though.
Gears would be the next step as far as performance. Might loose a little road fuel economy but I wouldnt loose too much.
Was in the metro area yesterday and picked a spoiler up. Off a 92 bird. Has some scratches in it, but it looks nice. Hopefully this weekend I can get my quarter, fender, spoliler, and hood bump painted and installed. The hood bump doesnt completly match the lines of the car, 80 monte is more curvy than the cutlass, but Ill get it painted and see how it looks.
Well I made another run to Rohners auto salvage. Ended up getting some small stuff. Power window switch, HVAC controls, brougham pull strap supports, alumium front pumper to replace my bent aluminum one, and some random stuff. Pulled out 3 chrome bucket hinge covers, 2 were broke, and one was good. Owner of the yard didnt want to seperate them from the seats. The seats they came off of were on a Ttop 79 calais without the tops. The seats have been rained on for 10 years. Man those seats were nasty. Had to scoop a handful of who knows what out of the floor of the car, along with cutting a bunch of vines off the roof to get the hinge cover. Come home to reilize the covers are different from the inside to the outside of the seats. So I didnt need that one. :x
Good news is I have some of the stuff to finish my interior. Took more pictures this time. Found an aluminum core support which I will defitly take out this fall, and a 79 monte with non AC heater box and controls. Might take that stuff out if its worth anything.
Spontanious decision. I have late october off school for a few days. Like the 21st and 22nd. Was going to pull out that aluminum core support before I paint the car this winter. It crossed my mind to call you, but like I said, I decided to go the day before. Coulda helped me pull out that core support! 😀 My friend I brought with was great helping find stuff, but didnt know how to pull out a core support. Plus I didnt feel like pulling a fender, header panel, and all the other stuff off the car at 2:30 with a mob of mosquitos and it being 85 with 200% humidity out.
Was going to look for a 3.08 rear, but I didnt even try. At least I found a set of C heads off a 69 98 for the 455. Like to pull out that non AC box out of that monte for no reason at all too. Wouldnt need it for the 85 gray car, as it wont ever be on the road again, unless I get desperate, and If I ever get the money, time, and a wagon and SC 3800 Id put AC in it. Yeah, thats another crazy idea of mine, a G wagon with a supercharged 3800. Ive got a bunch of wierd ideas. 😀
Put my window sweeps on yesterday. Took 2 hours or so in the morning to take out the door panels, reaplace the sweeps, adjust the windows, put on the pull strap reinforcement, and resinstaled the panels. Did the other side too. Took 4 hours but the sweeps look nice. They are the $25 a pop ones from rock auto. They look like a quality part, and seemed to fit great. Needed new holes drilled in the doors, but I dont care as a few of the holes were stripped.
Overall, some of the best 4 hours ive spent on the car. Car is real quiet going down the road. Used to be lowd, and howled. Now if I didnt have that split on the drivers back corner, it would be silent. I used some house ducting insulation from home depot to line the floor and roof. It is worth it. And at like 10% of dynamat. $25 for the whole car.
Got my new HVAC controls in, and wired up my guages while I had the radio and controls out. Got the seatbacks on, and the hinge covers too. Now I can say the interior is DONE.
Car was in fact repainted the WRONG color at one time. The original dark jadestone metalic is nice, while the repainted stuff is a different shade. Dont know why the car was repainted, assuming theres some unknown bondo work in the car.
KAW!! I need toget 2 more center caps too. Get some rockets made for the things too.
