should get those quarter windows and rear window trim off that junk car for me lol. i need to get rid of my vinyl top bad

I wish I had the trim and windows. It was so cold when I took the windows out that the sealant was like molases in january hard. It was 20 below that night and only about 5 below when I took them out. I took off the nuts from the back and I had to push real hard for the window to even move. One broke in half and the other broke 2 of the studs off from being stuck in the body. Word of warning dont take the windows out when its above 60 as the stuff acts like gum, and dont do it below 10 because its like rock hard caramel.

Water got froze under the rear window trim so it got all bent removing it. Clips werent coming off and the car had to get out of the driveway so the screwdriver came out to assist removal. That trim isnt much thicker than aluminum foil it seems. Only good thing is that it wasnt the nicest trim in the world. Still wish I had it though so I could complete my blackout trim package.

Well its spring, snow is gone and its warm out. Did quite a bit over the weekend. Got a new down pipe built, rebuilt the carb, MSD BTM box, and some other stuff. Bought a TH375 for the salon. Its too far gone to make it into a street car but have enough for a drag car so thats its future. Dont understand what the previous owner was trying to do.

Washed it up after its slumber, its drivable now. Yay!

Got a driveshaft out of a 70 chev impaler too. Way bigger than a G body drivshaft.

Now I need to spend as little as possible to get it to move on its own power until I get my 81 finished. Takes up enough money to begin with.

Its funny your Dad made you take out the 455 & put in a v6 to keep you from the power and now you are thinking about building a drag car.

The 455 being taken out becasue of too much power is only like 1% of the reason. The fact that it needed a trans, not fitting right, being "tired" and even though you can get decent milage it would take a bunch of work was 99% of why it was taken out. Found the 3.8 at a good price. Wasnt at the point where I wanted a 455 either. Would have cost more than my 3.8, it didnt have good accesories and I would have ended up rebuilding it. I ended out ahead going with the 3.8. No, its not as fast as a 455 but it is different and Im having fun working on it.

Drag car is a few years off. If I find a rusty 442 or GN I will swap the interior and all the trim and little stuff and turn it into a street car. Right now its too far gone and missing to much due to a botched restoration attempt. Gone threw 3 people trying to restore it before I got it. Its a rust free shell and I have all the stuff for it, he's OK with it.

Went out to Rohners salvage in Willmar MN. Traded Blake442 my aluminum hood I didnt need for 2 AR vector wheels and some console shiter stuff. Bought 2 GP Bars, a monte carlo core support to cowl brace, and a set of F41 fender to core support braces. A decent door for the 85 too. Bad news is the MC bars dont fit on my car with the carb/turbo setup. One of the bars hits the carb hat. Basically have all the F41 stuff and GM braces except the rear seat brace which I didnt feel like taking out of the car but can just fab one up and the trunk to rear frame rail brace out of a GP but they are spot welded in and dont look like they do anything. Had to lay on top of a pokey bush to grab one of the GP bars but it came out OK.

This yard is pretty cool. Hard to get to anything but theres a bunch of stuff. Must be 15+ wagons 20+ 4 doors and around 10 81/88 2dr cutlasses. Tons of 78/80 2drs. The door I took off was off a rollover and was the only door worth taking off. Everything else was rusted out. There was around 3 malibus and 7 78/80 Montes. One 81+ monte. There was a nice looking 79 Pontiac Grand Lemans parked under a tree. Would have to move 6 cars to get it out but it is NICE. Very little rust, only missing the tailgate and one of the front grills. A wash and a vacuume and you could drive it out as long as it runs. Doesnt belong there for sure.

Overall a good trip.

Put the GP bar on already, and the fender to core support braces too. Threw my Rad support on too. Got rid of my carriage bolt rad holders. Worked but now its looks right.

The 442. Rusted out compltely, ran into a post, no interior, but it is still a 80 442.

Theres no way to get all the stuff there in one picture, theres a ton of stuff.

Ohh yeah, door looks bad but really isnt. Didnt pay a ton for it, wasnt a steal but the bottom seam is nice, only the side chrome left some rust on there. Mostly surface rust, nothing some rust nutrilizer and bondo cant fix.

So on the way to prime my 85 I got cut off. Got it looked at a body shop today. We'll see what happens.

Actually like this picture, minus the dented quarter and front corner.

Primed the 85. Was going to go with self etching but the store didnt have it and epoxy was affordable so I went with that. Covered nice, no runs, but feels rough, looks like it has orange peel. Maybe it just needs to be wet sanded? Got the doors hung too.
