Wellston, OK
2.29 in my 80 malibu 305. Pretty sure most of our cars got 2.29's even though most people i tell don't believe they made a gear so high.

Yep, both my 79 and 80 had 2.29s.

Believe it or not, they even built 2.14 axles in other divisions, I think it was Olds that used them

MCSS got 3.42 for 83/84 and 3.73 for 85+

It's still a 7.5 (7.625 actually) rear, probably less than a new ring and pinion plus setup, but it's still a 30+ year old used part. It is less than the few that have been advertised locally
Thanks for the reply Ribbedroof. I think I may just save up and buy the fully assembled 9" ford/GBody housing units.

Yours came with the chunk/3rd member and all? And did you get any of the upgrades? It can add up quick if you start checking boxes LOL.

Nice.. I's well over $2k now with those options. Is it worth getting this upgrade ..ukon Pro N case, Daytona Pinion Support, Billet Yoke (for 450-650 HP) [+$350.00] ARe they saying to support that HP range it's needed? I would think it would already be strong enough.. (I'm a noob fairly.)

Unfortunately I can attest that that is a true statement.
Kye Kelly can probably out 60 foot me, but I'll catch him on the big endo_O

I just got mine in December for $1,820.00 . I didn’t bother with the Yukon, my engine might max out at around 450 HP. I don’t plan to be racing it
