81 Malibu project restarting

So I got the seats installed Friday, and was able to use the car over the weekend. Still runs crappy, but I’m a happy camper.
I was able to install the door panels today too. I went to install the b pillar trim I bought, a d I noticed they’re different. I didn’t realize that there was a difference between the cars, but apparently there is. It sure if I’m going to use the dried out originals or the better ones that don’t line up right.
I got the shifter down so I can set that up and weld in the brackets. Than I can put the carpet back in.

Those fiero seats look nice in there. Period correct and more supportive. Probably not the best if your a really big guy but I've found them about the most comfortable part of being in a fiero 🙂

Nice progress

I think they’re probably the best thing I’ve done to the car. So much more supportive than the bench, and they’re in way better shape than the cutlass buckets I have. I was extremely lucky to get them too. I went over it before, but a friend mentioned that hagerty gave a body shop a whole fiero parts car to fix a pos fiero a customer had. I mentioned that I wanted the mirrors. He made a call and they said I couugrab them. While I was there i saw the seats were mint. My friend made a call and they said i could take the whole car if I wanted. Unfortunately, it had no front or rear suspension, so I had to settle for the mirrors and seats.

Took the car to the local cruise night. Unfortunately the threat of rain scared off most people. Usually like 100 cars, there was like 10. My kids weren’t too happy. I didn’t even take any pictures there. Snapped 2 of my car when I got home. I put it on stand in the garage after to get the shifter installed. Kind of goofy driving with a floor shifter not hooked up and a column shifter.

I got the shifter and console brackets welded in today. I took it for a ride with the shifter in and had to play around with it a little. I still have to fab brackets to mate the f body console with the dash and cutlass floor bracket. The shifter is in and operational though. I’m on the fence as to whether I want to pay $180 for a Firebird his/hers console plate, or make my own. For now, the carpet is in and I’m going to button up the interior a bit and drive it.

I haven’t done anything with the car but drive it lately. Last week I decided to tackle a small rust spot on my truck, before it got out of hand. I have another low on the right bed side to do then I’ll paint the 2 spots. I’ll do my rockers at a later date. I used a uv curing primer on there. I finished a little late so I had to drive around to find some sun to get it to cure. Normally 2 coats give you super high build and with the proper sun level it will dry in 5 minutes. Even faster with a up light. You get almost no shrinkage either.

Just picked up this tank today. It’s baffled and has an in tank electric pump that’s good for at least 600 hp. Not sure who makes it but it came out of a car that I bought some other stuff in. Car was fast but too rotten. For $100 figured I couldn’t go wrong.

Love my welding p*rn 😛

Nice work fixing it man.

Haven’t been doing anything on the car lately, but driving it to the local cruise nights. My kids always asked why I never put the hood up when we go. I don’t feel like showing off my little 305, but since they asked me to, I did.
