Hmmmm! You got me wondering if the bases (or pedestals) on the Fiero mirrors are slightly different. Then I'd understand if you had to make any modifications.

A shop near me had a fiero parts car that was going to the junkyard. They let me grab the mirrors and seats off of it. I read the internals of the mirrors were the same, and the seats would bolt to g body tracks, so I grabbed them. I could’ve had the whole car but it had no suspension at all. Parts car was cleaner than the car the was receiving the parts, go figure.
My neighbor owns two Fieros. One's a 4-cyl. model that he pulled the Iron Duke out of. He installed a later Ecotec type engine with a 5-spd. His other car is a Fiero GT, which I always thought were cool cars.
I used to see one at the local cruise-ins with a smallblock V-8 in it. I think it was a bit ridiculous. Perhaps an aluminum V-8 like the old 215 Buick/Olds powerplant or a Cadillac Northstar would make more sense.
Going thru the local boneyard at times, you see clean cars that could've been saved. It makes you wonder how and why it ended up there.
I began the rust repair on the rear window trunk filler tonight. I used a piece off of my 78 nova to make the patch. Same metal I used on the door. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep the sheet metal all GM. Feels good to be able to repurpose a piece from the nova. I really should’ve kept that car.

Pulled the bench seat and mocked up the buckets and console. Boy what a difference. I wish I had a set of rear seats to match these buckets. Oh well the gray doesn’t clash too bad with the navy back seat for now.
I still have to weld in the bucket brackets, console brackets, and shifter brackets. Can’t wait to get that his/her Hurst shifter in here from the H/O.

I pulled the interior tonight so I could weld in the brackets for the buckets, console, and shifter. I was quite surprised at the rust I found. I had the carpet up back in 08 and the floor was perfect, now not so much. I guess I have some work ahead of me. Looks worse in person. I have some floor pieces from the H/O but I may wind up buying a drivers side floor pan. We’ll see how it goes.

That said, at least worst case scenario you're right, it will need a drivers side floor pan. Or at the very least, a 4x8 cold rolled piece of steel. Your transmission hump and passenger side are fine.
The car has rust in the windshield channel from a bad replacement. If it wasn’t done poorly, the floors would still be mint.
