81 Monte Rear End

Been wondering this for a while, The rear end on my 81 Monte is posi, that's kinda all I know. Does anyone know what gear ratio I have? Or what posi rear ends were offered in 81.

Depending on which engine/transmission you have it could be 2.14 to 2.56 ratio. Easiest way would be to pull the cover on the rear and count the teeth on the ring gear and pinion gear.

Jack up the rear end, mark the tires and driveshaft (rotate and count) and you can figure it out in about 5 mins give or take, super easy.

It won't be exact but you won't lose any fluid, should come out close enough to figure it out though.
