You guys need to check out Rock Auto. I like Advance too (because I used to work there years ago), but their price matching has a limit. Last time I went there I don't think they could go more than 10% difference.
I bought upper and lower Moog ball joints from Rock Auto today. This is the breakdown of cost comparison:
Rock Auto
MOOG K6145T Ball Joint $ 23.79
MOOG K5208 Ball Joint $ 21.79
Discount $ -2.28 (they email discounts from time to time)
Shipping (FedEx or UPS) $ 8.15
Order Total $ 51.45
Well I paid $0 for my moog upper and lower ball joints. A guy I know bought a '78 malibu a few years ago, and never got around to finishing the project. He was cleaning out the car, and found a box full of brand new suspension parts from the previous owner. He ended up giving me all four moog ball joints. So that was a win win for me. 🙂
Looks great. I like how the red block, distributor, and wires, tie in together. There is also enough contrast with the clean cast and the black brackets & pulleys add in a nice touch of chrome with the valve covers & intake and whole package looks great. Lots of guys paint everything one color and it rarely looks as good as it could. The distributor being up front is nice. Crane makes a good adjustable vacuum advance put with an advance curve kit and you will be ready to tune it for power.
Did you port out the opening of the exhaust manifold? If you can use 2.5" 2.75" or even 3" out of the exhaust manifold it will not lose as much HP & especially torque to the exhaust system. Even if you use smaller pipe downstream such as the tailpipes. The stock drag racers do this. A simple H pipe about 2' in front of the muffs also saves a few and eliminates any possible drone. You might also consider upgrading to some good salvage yard electric fans to eliminate power loss from the clutch fan. Mark 8 fans are highly regarded as are any mini van fans that have rear air as are some others. Most who do that also upgrade to a newer style smaller but stronger alternator as electric fans draw some juice. My GN came with electric fans and I upgraded to dual electric pullers to the cool the 509 down in the Cutlass and it worked great. Did you run a 160 or 180 degree thermostat?
