'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Hey Blake! It's good to see the cruiser looking like a cruiser again!

Its funny, I don't see many wagons anymore, but there are 3 in the town I live in (only 5000people in the county). One is a drag car, one a daily driver in multi-colors, and mine mostly sitting in the garage with something apart.
My damn headliner material dropped off of the small section. I guess I didn't use enough glue :-/. It's always something!

Thanks, Brian! Glad to see you back at it!
I never see any wagons on the road anymore around here, but more and more seem to be popping up at events...
My progress has been a bit slower than I would have liked. Having the car 40 miles away and not at the house makes it tough.
But considering I only get to work on it for 3-5 hours a day, 2 or 3 days a week, I'm not doing too bad...
I can't believe it's already the end of June, but I don't have too much farther to go! :wax:

Got the fenders 90% stripped and they're back off the car.
Zero rust and no major dents... just a few dings down the sides, some hail dents along the tops and the holes I welded up.
I'll get started on the filler work when I head out to work on it next week.
Finally going to get the 442 out of the garage this weekend and try to replace the tie-rod on the Buick if I have time/motivation...

Happy 4th of July weekend!!

Too hot this weekend, so of course I didn't get anything done that I had hoped to on the other cars...

Today I went out and got most of my filler work on the fenders taken care of.
Still a few that I missed and a few that need another swipe, but they're almost there.
After that I will prep the jamb areas and such the best I can and they'll be ready for primer.

Nothing to report for the last week...
Had to stay home since thursday and keep an eye on my mom, so no work on the wagon.
I did get a couple things taken care of on the Buick in the meantime.
Car show is this weekend, but I'll find out today when my mom has to have surgery and if the 442 and I will be able to make it or not...
Hate to lose a week or two of progress on the wagon, but oh well...

Blake,
It always seems like life throws you a curve sometimes. I hope your mom get's the care she needs, and has a full, quick recovery.
I hope you're able to make the car show this weekend. Is it the annual Car Craft Nationals?

Thanks, Jack.
This weekend is the show formerly known as the car craft summer nationals.
Now that show is in Milwaukee, and they call the show here the O'reily Auto Parts Street Machine Nationals.
Of course the forecast is calling for 90* weather all weekend...

Did a little work on the wagon today cleaning up the insides of the fenders.
I quit a little earlier than normal so I can get the 442 ready while I still have some wind in my sails.
Although now that I'm all full of Taco Bell, I don't really want to do anything... lol

Finally got back to work on the wagon yesterday.
Filler work on the fenders is coming along nicely.
There's one more spot I might hit again, otherwise they're ready for primer.
I'm long overdue for new glasses, so once everything is one color it's a lot easier for me to work with.
Didn't have to go too crazy with the filler... just a peppering of small dings.
The one big dent is of course right on the body line. It looks like there's a lot of filler on it, but it's deceivingly thin.
I'll get some primer shot on them tomorrow and I'll be able to see how much more work I have to go...

Got my fenders primed yesterday.
Easier to see where I need to do a little more sanding now...
Once I finished that up I blocked out the header panel again.
Tuesday I'll flip the fenders over and prep and prime the inner and jamb areas.
