'83 Cutlass Cruiser Build Thread

Been debating adding the vinyl woodgrain trim around the car once it's painted. Should I do it?

Didn't feel like dealing with my bolt situation today...
So instead I welded up the holes in the fenders that I would no longer need.
One at the bottom of each fender for the rocker moldings that I deleted.
One at the top of each fender for the belt-line moldings that I deleted.
And one for the antenna since I will be going with the windshield embedded antenna instead.
I had previously welded up the holes for the side moldings over the winter when I did the doors.

The holes were easy, and I made a fancy patch for the antenna.
No in-progress pictures, but here's the finished product...

I want to put the fenders back on the car so I can finalize the doors...
I'll probably tackle that on thursday.

I did the same thing Blake, but I had some addition rust to cut out and repair. You are getting close man!

Today I adjusted the drivers door a little more and then hung the front clip back on the car.
Gaps and body lines are where they were/should be...
I'll strip the fenders while they're on the car since they won't be as wobbly as they would on a stand.
Then I can pop them back off and start my filler work and priming.

I think I might head out to the junkyard on saturday and grab some stuff I need for the wagon, as well as the Buick...

Nice, I have been on standstill as you know. While you are at the yard, could you keep an eye out for rear wheelwell trim for the Buick/Olds wagon?

I have fronts, but no rear. I will be painting/coating them black anyway so dent and shine are not important.

It looks good, Blake. It gives you more perspective as to how the car will look all together.
While my heap was apart, it was hard to envision it all in one piece and in color.

Thanks Jack... It's nice to see it resemble a car again!
And remembering how it goes together is always a good sign lol

Jim, they're already on my list for ya...
I'll be bringing my drill this time, just gotta grab a couple fresh bits.

.
Blake,
It's surprising how everything fits in place...almost as if the panels knew the way and were guiding you...lol!!
However, the interior can be a little tricky, between sorting out the proper clips, etc.

I perceive it as a big puzzle. I enjoy putting things back on the car.

Thanks Blake! I am out at my cousin's near Carlisle, so no car work this weekend. I'll be going to the fairgrounds here soon. Hopefully meeting a few members.

Well my trip to the yard was only partially successful...
The area with all the Olds and Buick wagons was completely overgrown with prickly, chest-high weeds...
Homie don't play that, so I wasn't able to get a number of things I was hoping to.
The only thing I managed to get for the wagon was another pair of the lower garnish-bead that goes below the lower 1/4 glass molding.
I wouldn't say they're in 'good' shape, but restorable... better than the ones I have now at least.
The vent window is for the Buick, and I also got an oil dipstick for my truck since the original was about to break.
