has anyone ever done a t top conversion on a 84- 88 monte.swapping roof vs swaping body which would be stronger structurally.i thought it would be easier to change the roof but now im having second thoughts.i have considering changing the body instead. i have a 87 ls hardtop and just bought a t top parts car.can anyone help with some info.does a t top car have a different frame for the support issue not having a full roof.does anyone have any good info and any pictures.thanks

Re: 84-88 t top conversion

Keep looking. There are some posts with pics around here somewhere. I've seen some.

Re: 84-88 t top conversion

Well, mine wasn't a conversion per se, because we ended up using the whole donor car body (it was a t-top). You can see pictures on my Cardomain page under the bodywork heading.

If you do find a donor car and do a conversion via cutting off the roof and swapping it out, you will also need:

t-top weather stripping kit (whole car kit)
t-top headliner
t-top sun visor hardware
t-top interior a/b-pillar trim pieces

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME FIND A T TOP CAR..I FOUND ONE AND WAS GOING TO CHANGE THE ROOF IT WOULDNT BE THE SAME.THERE REINFORCED DIFFERNTLY. I ENDED UP SWAPING BODYS ITS TURNED OUT BETTER.LOOK AT MY PICTRS

T-tops are going to leak if you realy want t-tops though id say swich the whole body so when it does start leaking your not destroying your hardtop shell floor but thats just my opinion

Please explain how the car is reinforced differently because they're not...
Only difference is the roof.
