84' GN whats it worth?

I heard of a guy here in town selling a big block GN so I went to look at it. The paint is black and is about 6 months old. It has a supposed 454 And th400 trans. it looks like an old build and its been sitting a few years. I could not here it run at the time because of a bad starter they said. The seats are ok and has New carpet. Dash is ok.headliner is shot and most interior plastics are shot. Weather strips are shot floor pans have some rust spots about dime size. Suspension is stock and is showing it's age. What do you guys think is a good price? Dunno if I want to buy and keep it or flip it. I really don't like t-tops.

You might get a better answer on Turbobuick.com but here is my 2 cents...

The value of that car will be less due to the fact that it has been molested. The factory turbo V6 is gone as are the correct rims.
If it was rust free it would be worth a lot more. Check the T frame VERY closely. Most of these cars are rotted there unless they have been kept in a bubble. If the floor pans have rust, it's likely that there was rust on the body before paint. I would be very suspect unless the PO has detailed pics. Without seeing the car in person It is hard to estimate but I would guess somewhere between 4-5K assuming it is solid.

Without knowing more about the engine specs, intstallation, rear end, etc,,, it would be hard to put a guesstimate on it. There could be thousands in that motor and install or maybe just a quickie swap from a 80s Suburban.

I bet you could find a black Regal GN(X) clone with a Chevy motor and some Prostars for less than what this person would want for what was once a GN. Thats basically what your looking at now and I personally have seen at least a few dozen of them at car shows in the last 2 years.

It's probably not worth what the paint cost. That year is one of the least desirable ones. $2000? There was a nice, slightly worn original daily driven one around here that ended up being put up for sale for $3000, was overall in much better shape minus fresh paint. Where is the car (state)?

It's not really something you could make money on I don't think.

Also, Im not knocking this car by any means. It does look decent. And although it has a swapped motor, there is still some value there. Plus its one more G body that is still on the streets and looks pretty presentable. But considering the lack of GN drivetrain (which greatly lowers value IMO), and not caring for t tops, AND the lack of doing an actual physical inspection, at this point I couldnt see paying much more than a few grand for it as Anubis stated.

So, you have a nonrunning, mid eighties Regal with a bbc and a th400? No engine pix, does it have the 8.5 rear? The under deck spid have a WE2 on it? Maaco type quickie paint? Real black out trim or just painted chrome?

$2000! Yea I wish. Id buy that for $2000 no questions lol. Most gn's let alone regals are 1500+ no matter what condition around here.
