Hi Gbody guys! im a new owner to a 1984 chevy monte carlo CL.
I am in need of some help! =[ when i bought the car it had a rotted out brake line and i got it towed home so i replaced the new brake lines and bled the system and the pedal still whent to ther floor so then i notices that my proportioning valve had reset so i just got a new one. bled the system again and still when to the floor =[ so then i replaced a couple craked vacuum line thinkin there was a shortage of vacuum in the brake booster but still nothing. i dont know what to do at this point. there was a broken brake bleeder on the front left caliper. would that suck in air? help me out here please. . . .

if the reservoir was dry then you'll need to bench bleed the master but the master shouldn't travel to the floor even if it's not bench bleed... it would be mushy..it could be the master is shot. A reman master isn't that expensive and it comes with the kit and instructions to bench bleed the master..reman calipers are also pretty cheap so you might check that out instead of dealing with the ones you have.

well see i replaced the master cylinder but i didnt bench bleed it. at first its smushi but then i pump it a couple time and it starts to build preassure but after a couple seconds the system builds preassure.(while running) do you think that the broken bleeder might be suckin air in the system?

You may have a leak somewhere; pull off the drums and make sure it's all dry back there. I would replace that bleeder just in case it is sucking in air. How are you bleeding the brakes with a broken bleeder? Are you using one of those through the master setups?

did you bleed all 4 points? also, there's a pin on the front of the proportioning valve, i always for get if that should be pulled out or pushed in.
also, sometimes gravity bleeding the sh*t out of the system (one point at a time!) will cure everything

gravity bleeding is a good method since it works well and gives you some time to have a beer or two...when you bleed the system make sure you start off at the wheel furthest from the master....if you have not bench bleed the master yet you need to do that first..

i did not bench bleed the master and i bled that caliper at the line not the bleeder. i might bench bleed the master, get a new caliper and bleed the sh*t out of it for like the 50th time lol thanks alot for the help guys!

What do you mean you bled it at the line? Did you take the line off and then put it back on the caliper or wheel cylinder? If that's what you are doing, there's probably air in there.
