Re: My 1984 Monte SS build thread

Got some more done today, got the relocation of the battery done, and got the rest of the air ride plumbing and wiring done, the only thing left to do on the air ride is front shocks.

Re: My 1984 Monte SS build thread

Got the ugly heat/ac box out today, and the delete panel in, what a difference it makes in the engine compartment. I am going to make a plate for the big hole where the heater wire grommet came through into the engine compartment, and bolt it in, this way if I ever choose to or if I ever sell it, the new owner could bolt a heat/ac setup back in. The firewall will be black when I'm done and the delete plates will get powder coated. Also my new tubular uppers should be here this week, my new double din as well!

Re: My 1984 Monte SS build thread

Got my tubular uppers on today, I have so much more clearance to the headers now, the factory uppers actually hit the headers at drop. Gotta reroute the power wire now, I know it looks bad, but want to weld/clean up the firewall below the heater delete plate then I will mount the new fuse holder there and redo the wire then.

Re: My 1984 Monte SS build thread

Got some more done yesterday and today, the first stage of the shave work is done. The first pic is all the filler plates I made, and then weld through primed. The last pic is the antenna shaved, but I forgot to take a pic before I ground it down.

Thanks should be able to get back on it after the holidays. Gotta weld up some holes in the firewall next then the front shock mounts. Then onto the new inner fenders(trailer fenders) in the front.

Re: My 1984 Monte SS build thread

Got some patch work done on the lower firewall section and got the holes left over from the heater removal welded shut. I'll grind it all down when I'm ready to paint the firewall. Also made a bracket for the front fuse holder for the battery relocation.

Re: My 1984 Monte SS build thread

Got the drivers side fender extension made today. It's tacked up and I'll finish welding it up next weekend as well as do the passenger side one. Once I have the new bumper, I will be molding the lower valance to it, smoothing it, so the extension will flow right along with it.  No more warping urethane panels and no more marker lights either.
