Does anyone know how the AC condensor coil comes out?? The head pressures have gotten high enough to trip the high head pressure switch and looks like its in the oem condensor coil. I have been thinking about putting in a new one since I've changed to r134.

It's pretty easy to remove the condenser once the refrigerant has been evacuated. You have to pull the radiator and then its just a matter of unhooking the lines and unbolting it. I agree with tc1959 that if there is a restriction it is likely a plugged orifice tube, not the condenser.

After dismantling the system totally it appears it was the expansion valve. Everything else was clear, but the screen on the expansion valve was very dirty. I wonder if the compresser is giving up? I ordered a new expansion valve(A severe duty 105 degree capable), filter dryer and a new condensor(a parallel flow, supposed to be more efficent with r134)? Also putting a new fan clutch in since it's all open.
Thanks for your info
Frank

Watch out for that 105 degree orifice tube. Another member, Longroof tried one and had trouble with the system freezing up. The trash in the screen came from somewhere. You need to flush the system and it might be smart to go with a new compressor.

I have been running one of the severe duty orifice tubes for some time without any problems until it got dirty. My system is on the 3rd compressor and has been flushed every time. Yes I may be looking at another compressor. I had just gotten the AC performance up last week before this latest problem.

Sounds like you've got a good handle on it. Good luck and come back and let us know how it turns out.

Got everything buttoned back up, new condenser coil , new accumulator, new orfice tuble, new compressor. Major flush before assembly. Ran vacuum down to 28 for several hours. Tried to recharge but the system won't accept charge?? Compressor cycles on and off, has 150 psi when on, but no suction?? Checked everything but no low pressure. The low side only gets down to about 85 psi with chrage turned off. Is this a compressor problem??

I've finally solved the AC problem, after the thrash yesterday I discovered the r12-r134 low side adapter wasn't opening, blocking recharging. The pressure on the low side was just pressure in the hose, because the low side adapter was not opening. After wasting several cans of freon I changed the adapter with an old one I had, works great now. Don't know how many leaks I might have created with the hunt for the block. On to another project, seems like there's all ways something? Thinking right now about a headlight upgrade.
