Sticks and blowers not playing well together.
Buzz kill dude. If the axles are good, then chuck the spool in.

Are you running stock or aftermarket axles?

I put moser 30 spline axles in a year ago after I blew a stock axle at the same track 2 years ago on the same event, lol.

If I go spool I need c clip eliminators. I certainly can do that but my goal with the car is to build a 10.99 autocross car so the spool isn't that condusive.

The few people I've talked with mentioned trutrac diffs are quite a bit tougher. I am leaning towards that option now. Not saying it's the smartest but it's an upgrade from where I'm at now.
 
I love my trutrac actually, but have also heard they don't like rock crawling or drag racing. They are more for road racing. Which tells me they don't like to be shocked.... not sure if that helps or hinders your choice.
 
I have a Truetrac in my road race Camaro. It's better than a worn out Auburn road race unit and T2R that are into the case. I don't think I've had a 1 wheel peel yet, but there are a couple road race guys on LS1Tech that say they don't last forever. Gotta wonder if real launches would grenade the thing. We launch with 260whp, around 3300#, on DOT legal R compound tires (Toyo Proxes RR) and almost never see driveline failures. Only 2 launches per weekend though.
 
Plan B is building a 14 bolt.

88-98 1500 had an option for a semi float 3.73 33 spline posi rear. Basically buy a core 6 lug rear for $200, hack off the tubes to the right length, buy some moser gm disk axle ends with ford 9" outer bearings for $100. $350 for some new 33 spline axles the right length and jig it up on my fixture.

A tbss rear would be perfect but they are 4.10 and I cross the stripe at 5800 as it is in 4th so I don't need the gear.

Then I just need to design and cut the uca sandwich plate and water jet it on campus. I think I can be in it for under $800 in parts plus a boat load of time. Still cheaper than a $2500 9" since that's what it will take to build what I need.

Then this rear can trickle down to the Cutlass or one of the other hoard of g bodies in the fleet

That's the diff I have in my 1500, 6 lug 9.5. They can be found in the light 6 lug 2500s and the GMT800 trucks got them too, I believe it was the Denalis with the 6.0.
