PB blaster is your friend, or a map torch and a BFH

LOL!! I soaked em last night with some "Liquid wrench" I'll see wassup with em in a few hours. I was just gonna get a new set of stock spindles but damn they are expensive! I like to have an extra set of everything-lower/upper Control arms cleaned up and new bushings, cleaned up spindles, sway bars ect... I keep em on the shelves for future projects. Man! $200 for (1) spindle! WOW! I'll just hit the local yard up and see if I can find something later. The stock ones will get pulled apart in a few hours and cleaned up...

Got a lil bit done this morning. Got the "Purple Power" and wire brush out and did some cleaning. Should have did it before installing the driver side uppler/lower arms tho. I started taking the tie rods and stuff out. Got the driver one out after soaking it with some "Liquid Wrench" Popped right off. I soaked the other joints and will take everything out to day. Im going to clean it all up and then roll some "Chasis Saver" on. I was gonna use the new front springs I got. (well they are 6 years old-Bought em new and never installed em) Im not gonna use em on the El. I'll re-use the stock set im pulling out. They dont look old. The other thing is that the new springs have an extra coil and stand a lil taller. Cant have that on the Elco. I''ll spray em a nice black and reinstall em. I want the malibu sittin like Kuruptions and will use the other taller springs in the Malibu when I get it next summer. Here's what I got..

Cleaned up the lower support. Degreaser and a wire brush. Im gonna redo it all when the 305 comes out in mid January. Centerlink and passenger side tierods will be out in the morning. Then I can really clean things up 😀

The calipers will get cleaned up and sprayed a nice metallic silver like I did on my SS. I was gonna replace the brake lines, but the stock ones look good. Bout to hit the sack for a lil bit and get started on the passenger tear down. Wish me luck. I saturated the joints with some liquid wrench and wd-40. Hopefully they will pop right off...

Thanks for lookin.

Lolol! Yessir! RoRo didnt notice anything different. Baked em at 300 deg for 5 minutes and then another 5 at 400 deg. Should be cool. Im still tearing it all out and cleaning things up. I just do an hour a day right before work. (3pm-4pm) and clean erthang back up for the next day. I should have Friday off and can get it all buttoned up by then. Everything has been soaked with liquid wrench. I cleaned all the joints up with a wire brush and soaked it all. Let it sit overnight and hopefully things will come off easily. I should hit Harbor Frieght up for an air pickle fork. That would make things easier. Headed to San B to get some Chasis saver and get that crackin.

Paintin the calipers up and doin it all like I did on the SS....
Pic for ref..

Its amazing how a lil purple power, primer and paint and patience will work wonders on a part. Im not gonna rush. It doesnt have to be a show setup. Just "HOMEGROWN CLEAN 😀

Thanks for lookin fellas..

Glad to know you have been running an unauthorized powder coating operation in RoRo's kitchen while she's at work. I created a PDF document to show her once I find something to blackmail you with

Aw shiz!! Not you too!! The El and The SS gonna be stripped naked bout time yall done with me!!LOL!!

OK. Got a lil bit more done. I took friday off and once again..I ended up gettin a migraine. Jesus I wouldnt wish that on my worst enemy man. Sucked cuz I had shiz around the house (yardwork) to finish up on. Basically Friday was out. Saturday I felt waay better and headed out to see the big homie Pollo. Picked up some goodies from him: 411 gear set for the SS and some Crane Cms 1.6 full roller rockers.

Crane 1.6 full rollers for the Elco's new motor. I was gonna do a 383, but I'll do a nice 350. With the mods I have planned I will be at 400 hp and over 400 ft lbs torque. Build up the old SS 7.5(posi, Moeser axles, 3.73's) and I'll be good

Cleaned up the front a lil more. Got the centerlink, idler arm, tierods and driver side out. Now I can really clean up under there with my Purple Power and wire brush.

New Center link...

Adjusting the new tierod and comparing to the old. The clamp has been reversed and corrected. I sprayed the tierod clamps and adjusters with WD-40 to keep it rus free...

5254287528_be5733e0a6_z.jpg

Cleaned the passenger side balljoints up and sprayed some liquid wrench and WD-40 on em. Let that sit and hopefully it will come apart. If not Imma blow torch em. SHould pop off tho. Then I can roll the chasis saver on, let dry and get this finished up.

Thanks for checkin back...
